Fortunately, geostationary images can be looped, allowing more information about dust to be extracted. Here, the enhanced infrared images for a 24-hour period are shown. During the nighttime, the land cools, so it is not as easy to tell dust from land. The dust can be seen because of the motion it produces on the looping images, not because of a strong contrast between dust and ground as we saw during the daytime.
