The charts are available online at:

MSC forecasters
on the internal Web at https://collaboration.cmc.ec.gc.ca/cmc/cmdn/pvepv/epv.html

The goal of these charts is to provide a “heads-up” to the operational forecaster concerning the possibility of CSI and slantwise convection. As experience is gained with them, it may be necessary to make some changes to the chart contents. Please send feedback to andre.plante@ec.gc.ca.

If the CMC EPV charts indicate the possibility of slantwise convection, then it is expected that the operational meteorologist will look at the forecast in more detail. This can be accomplished by consideration of various synoptic elements, as summarized in the next section (Synoptic Considerations), along with an examination of the forecast vertical structure of the atmosphere in forecast tephigrams or Skew T diagrams and, if available, cross-sections of EPV. The weaknesses of the charts themselves will also have to be considered, along with any weaknesses in the GEM regional model on which the charts are based.
