What can we say about smoke in visible and infrared imagery?

  1. Visible images show smoke because of its natural buoyancy.
  2. Longwave IR images do not show smoke.
  3. During the daytime, longwave IR images show elevated smoke as warmer against a colder background.
  4. During the daytime, longwave IR images show elevated smoke as cooler against a warmer background. Smoke can be seen in the visible channel because smoke particles reflect incoming solar radiation.(Correct)
