This image shows the longwave IR window channel of the AVHRR. Look for the contrails off both coasts of Italy and over Yugoslavia. Can you see them? In particular, can you see a double contrail off the west coast of Italy? It's easier to see contrails in the IR than the visible because in the IR, cirrus cloud is brighter. However, it is often still difficult.
