This module presents the physical processes associated with a common type of fog and low stratus episode that occurs in subtropical zones over cold waters along the western coasts of North America, South America, and Africa.
These fogs are generally located in areas dominated by subtropical high pressure systems and represent one of the major types of fog discussed in the Professional Development Series Forecasting Low-Altitude Clouds and Fog for Aviation Operations.
