Hurricane Erin continues its march toward Florida's East Coast. It's
strengthened somewhat and now has sustained winds of 85 miles per hour,
and a minimum central pressure of 980 millibars. Erin remains a category
1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale."

"This chart shows Erin's movements over the past two days. Erin
has moved west and north through the Bahamas, and is now centered at
26.5 North Latitude and 78.3 West Longitude. This is about 110 miles east
of Palm Beach Florida."

"Here is the latest satellite imagery of Erin. You can see that
the center of the circulation appears over the eastern tip of the Grand
Bahama Island. A wind gust over 100 miles per hour was reported on Grand
Bahama Island. That's over 165 kilometers per hour."
description
"Erin continues to move toward the west-northwest at about 14 miles
per hour. The colored lines on this chart show predicted paths of Erin
according to various computer models. The white line is the National Hurricane
Center's official track, which predicts landfall sometime early tomorrow
morning."
description
"Hurricane warnings are in effect for the Florida east coast from
New Smyrna Beach south to Key Largo and for Lake Okeechobee. Tropical
storm warnings are now issued for the Florida east coast, north of New
Smyrna Beach to Saint Augustine, and for the Florida west coast from Cedar
Key south to Fort Myers. A tropical storm watch is in effect along the
Florida Gulf Coast from Cedar Key to Apalachicola."
"Storm tides of 5 to 8 feet above normal are expected near and to
the north of Erin's center where it makes landfall. A few tornadoes may
also accompany the hurricane. Heavy rains of 5 to 10 inches may cause
flooding as Erin crosses the Florida Peninsula."
"All small craft in the warning and watch areas should remain in
port. If you live in Florida or neighboring areas, you should take necessary
precautions immediately, and continue to monitor the progress of this
hurricane closely."
"To repeat, Hurricane Erin is expected to strike the Florida east
coast early tomorrow morning and continue across the Florida peninsula
to threaten the Florida west and Gulf coasts tomorrow. Stay tuned for
further updates on this hurricane."
