Why...?

Flood water can make you really sick or kill you.

How can your family stay healthy after a flood?

After a flood, wait until public health officials say it is OK before drinking tap water.
If your family uses well water and your area gets flooded, the well water should be tested before anyone drinks it or cooks with it.
Use soap and hot water to wash canned goods that come in contact with flood water.
Do not eat fresh food that has come into contact with flood water.
