Tropical Storm Erin has been upgraded to Hurricane Erin, with maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour, making it a category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Erin continues on a path toward the Florida east coast."
"Here's the latest infrared satellite image of Erin, the large area of yellow, blue, and red in the middle of the image. Erin is strengthening slowly, despite some west wind shear at high altitudes and remains a little disorganized, which is typical of a weak category 1 hurricane."
"The center of Erin is at 23.8° North Latitude and 75.3° West Longitude. This position is over the central Bahamas, about 340 miles east-southeast of Miami, Florida."
"Currently, Erin is moving toward the west-northwest at about 10 miles per hour. The colored lines on this chart show predicted paths of Erin according to various computer models. Consistent with most of these tracks, the National Hurricane Center's official track takes Erin over South Florida late tomorrow evening."
